Project Description

This study explores child and family service responses during and post the COVID-19 in Missouri using a mixed-methods design. The study uses statewide administrative data to examine trends and changes in child and family services from pre to during and post COVID-19 as well as variations in such changes by county-level poverty rate, racial/ethnic composition, and rural/urban status. In-depth interviews with families and service providers will be conducted to explain the quantitative results and understand challenges and success in service delivery. Findings will help policymakers and practitioners determine how to effectively deliver services to families and prevent child maltreatment in post-COVID-19 era and plan for future disasters. Findings will also help identify the best approaches for diverse communities, particularly those marginalized by poverty, race/ethnicity, and rural/urban status.
